Week 127 August 22 2012

Joseph Leotta – Bronx, New York

No Camera, No problem I always try to have a camera with at all times, but didn’t have one yesterday. Passed by the CityIsland waterfront and saw a great looking sky at twilight. Got to find out just how good my cell phone camera was. Unbelievable LG Lucid Android cellphone Still prefer my DSLR’s by a mile

Jens V Frederiksen – Elsinore, Denmark

Gej Jones – East Lansing Michigan

Pacifica, California The weather was a bit cool and the sky was threatening but people were fishing and lunch was delicious. Have a wonderful week!

Wayne Ervine – Johannesburg, South Africa

Really glad to have the group back online. Thx again to Joseph for all his hard work in making it happen. Last week I decided to try experiment a bit with some studio lighting. Wanted to try get a bit of a nightclub feel. Grateful to have friends who are willing to stand in front of the camera once in a while. And yes the mic is real. Handy being a sound engineer sometimes.

John McGraw – Lansing Michigan

Another Panoramic this week. I was at Higgins Lake Michigan at a friends cottage and I didn’t plan on shooting that night (But had me camera) as always, and then saw this sunset and had to capture it!

Robin Warner Santa Monica, California

Another photo taken from my trip to Cambodia. This trip made me really want to travel the world with my camera…..

Ken Yamamoto – Tokyo, Japan

Here is my shot of the week. Not with the heavy Nikon, but with Lumix. From the window of 787 flying from Tokyo to Boston. Beautiful sunrise. 787 is one hell of an aircraft – goes straight up to 37K ft immediately after take off (normally, 31K and when the fuel gets light enough, to 37K much later of the flight), and later of the flight to 41K (have never seen such number on the commercial passenger aircraft before), equipped with the “shower toilet”, all the lights are LED, no shade on the window, instead the switch with darkens the glass with 5 level of darkness, etc…… Anyway, fun to fly on the new aircraft…. Ken www.kih.me Lumix 5, f/2.5, 1/800sec, ISO80

Emma Roberts – Coventry, England

It’s good to see the weekly email back! I’ve had a few bookings the last couple of weeks so I’ve not had much time for photos of my own so here’s another one from my trip to Warwick castle. I hope everyone is well, Emma

Deb Sulzberger – Launceston, Tasmania, Australia

Rick Dohme – Tampa, Florida

Sitting in my back yard waiting for bird shots and our cat Spice was modeling for me. Nikon D3X, Nikon 300 2.8, Nikon TC-20E III, 600mm, F/11, 1/60 sec, ISO 400, SB 900 flash

Sandi Mahncke – Snellville, Georgia

We spent the weekend at one of our favorite places-LakeBurton in the N.Georgia mountains. It’s become an annual event with lifelong friends and it’s actually a place that I’ve spent many wonderful times at since I was 13. We’re all “dog people” so dogs are welcome. My pup Beemer LOVES swimming and spends hours jumping from the dock and paddling around in the water. Here she “retrieving” a new toy that one of my friends tossed in from the other dock- a bit close but she was totally focused on it! Of course, when I’m ready to swim she has to stay up on the deck at the house because she tries to “rescue” me and I wind up w/ a lot of scratches! But she means well! Hope everyone has a great week and looking forward to everyone’s work this week!

Filip Lucin – Cakovec, Croatia

Hello all! Back from my vacation on beautiful Adriatic sea in my own Croatia. There is total of 1000 photos I’ve made trough past two weeks. I’m nearing 40000 photos taken with my good old D80 and soon, it will be 5 years since I bought it. Anyway, I’ve made this photo on early morning on one of most visited beaches on the island I was on. I hope this photo shows why. 🙂 Looking forward to your photos, now when I’m back on proper dsl internet connection. 🙂 Greetings, Filip. Pozdrav, Filip. Moje fotke i blog: http://www.filiplucin.com/

Suzanne Bauer – West Dover, Vermont

Cowgirl This little girl was at the horse show this weekend in the Lead Line classes.  That is where there is a young rider on the horse being lead around the ring by an older rider.  They judge on both the rider and the horse in two separate divisions.  I thought this little girl was so precious and her red boots just got me!  I don’t know who she is but I hope somehow her family gets to see the photo.

Kathy Allman – New Port Richey, Florida

Loved this street scene in China with all the banners. They use color and patterns very creatively!

 Peggy G – Tupelo, Mississippi

I got to stop this morning at Veteran’s Park, and found this Kingfisher. It is not the best shot, but I was happy to get the chance to at least try. Ring-necked kingfishers are supposed to be the type we have in this area. This one does not look like a Ring-necked to me. Can anyone help with the id? I’ve searched on the internet.

Stacy Winsett – Allen, Texas

Under a Bridge Downtown This is Reggie, a homeless man that my atheist group was able to help this past weekend with shoes and hygenic necessities. I loved the texture of his skin and hair. This one’s for Robin. Nikon D90 + Nifty Fifty

Roberta Davidson – Destrehan, Louisiana

Hi everyone, The heat and the rain  have been keeping me close to home.   Nothing exotic this week, just a young cardinal . Hope you enjoy.

Angie Vega – Wake Forest, North Carolina

Crystallized Mushroom Taken with iPhone and olliclip.  Combination of rain and heat bring some real marvelous wild mushrooms. It’s a great opportunity to bring out my iPhone and olloclip and take advantage of these small wonders. Angie

Stephanie DiPietro – Pacific Palasides, California

this photo was taken on a foggy night in Golden GatePark, San Francisco. There was very little color but I ended up desaturating the image totally.

Ken Papai – San Rafael, California

OLD FENCE POST Last week hiking — EOS 7D, f/4, 85mm lens. -Ken Papai (good to be back this week!)

Kelly Schultz – Buffalo – New York

Waiting in the wings. I captured this stage hand waiting to change the stage between sets. I especially liked the smiley face.

Steven Lakose – Wallingford, Connecticut

Tiny flowers… Did a bike ride called Tour of Litchfield Hills (75 miles, with over 5,000 ft of climbing). While waiting for some friends to finish their ride I noticed this beautiful flower bed some with tiny flowers. In between the light showers I took quite a few shots with various exposures, with and without flash. This one is one of my favorites. Nikon D200, 28-85 lens @ 70mm F/4.5 1/60 sec with flash and ISO-200

Holly Schwartz – Bardstown, Kentucky

“Dawn of the new moon” This day I got up before four in the morning to wait for the sunrise on my favorite river. This is the first picture I took when arriving at the location. The photo was taken at 5:25 pm, about an hour before sunrise. E3, Zuiko 9-18mm, ISO 100, 40sec @ f/8, COKIN GND 8, tripod Good light to everyone!     Davorin. www.davorinmance.com

Per-Christian Nilssen – Sarpsborg, Norway

Peggy Gund – Bronx, New York

Don Enderlein – Brooks, Georgia

This is a shot of a building thunderstorm, taken from the back window of my house. Although it might not look like it, we are in a severe drought here in central Georgia – our water table would require 32 inches of rain to bring it back to normal. However, this is nothing like what is going on in Kansas this summer. Don

Nikon camera and a Sigma Lens

Alejandro Held – Buenos Aires, Argentina

Hello All another pic from my visit to ArteBA I loved the texture of this bronze ribbon Nikon D300 + 50mm ISO 800 – f 1.8 – 1/1250

Special Bonus Photo Section

The bonus photo is of interest from somewhere in the world

Joseph Leotta

1 World Trade Center Here’s a different view of the new World trade center. I pulled over on the highway in New Jersey on Friday  night on the way back to NY. The view across a small inlet off the Hudson River looking east to NY was awesome. Looking across the new 1 WorldTradeCenter building under construction stands out on the skyline. The other bright building to the right is the new 3 WorldTradeCenter. 11 years after 911 it is now the tallest building in NY

John McGraw

I was driving on the highway between Milwaukee and Green Bay when I saw a church with some crazy clouds behind it. When I got off the highway and found the church there was a big port-a-john on the side, and I couldn’t get a nice shot without it in the frame, but when walking back to the car I saw this shot. So sometimes you just need to look behind you for the shot.
